    Borders General issues apology to local widow

    A Hawick woman has received an apology from NHS Borders after doctors at Borders General Hospital failed to diagnose her late husband’s stroke, as well as for the standard of nursing care he received.

    Having initially been admitted with pneumonia, an investigation later discovered that doctors had failed to recognise he had had a stroke. It was only after he had been discharged from the hospital that a subsequent CT scan confirmed a stroke.
