    Hornshole Bridge

    Thursday, October 13th, 2016

Hornshole Bridge carries an unclassified road over the Teviot, from Burnfoot to Denholm. It was built between 1772 and 1774 with money from neighbouring landowners, assisted by a grant from road trustees. Construction was overseen by Adam Scott and John Pott, although Scott retired following an accident, when framework used to build the arch collapsed. Pott died soon after its completion, as the result of an injury suffered when removing scaffolding planks. The bridge was granted C listed status in November 2007. It is a popular but dangerous diving spot for teenagers during the summer months.
